Hello! We are Luke and Lauren Elliott, founders of Elegie School of Music and Music Monsters. We are a small, family-run business, who pride ourselves on offering an exceptional personalised service to all students. We work with families from all over the UK, providing music education from birth through to adulthood. We want all families to experience the joy that comes from sharing and learning about music. We are very friendly and adaptable - please do get in touch if you have any queries at all.

SO WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT OUR MUSIC CLASSES?

1. THEY ENCOURAGE PARENTS TO ENJOY AND LEARN TO PLAY MUSIC AS WELL

Each week, you will be given a list of activities to try at home, as well as links to specially formulated music playlists for you to enjoy with your child. Older students are given books of materials used in class, so that you can revisit ideas learnt. This is always done in a fun way though. We never put pressure on young children to 'practise', mainly because we don't need to - they enjoy their lessons so much, they want to continue the learning in between.

2. THEY ARE WRITTEN AND LED BY HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS.

Lauren has a BMus(Hons) and MA in Music from University of Birmingham, and Luke has a BMus(Hons) from Birmingham Conservatoire. We only work with class leaders with degrees or equivalent in music or early years education.

3. MANY OF OUR CLASSES ARE DELIVERED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SOLIHULL MUSIC SERVICE AND THE CORE THEATRE.

This is a great privilege that allows us to offer a truly organic service, providing arts education to children and families throughout Solihull alongside some of the leading practitioners in the field.

4. CLASSES ARE PROGRESSIVE.

They become more challenging as children learn, and will always be lots of fun as they are pitched at each child according to their age and development. Children will always be in groups of similar ability youngsters. Our settings are always fun, but we have a very high standard of learning. We introduce keyboards from age 3, and have a lot of faith and confidence in the abilities of our youngsters.

5. MUSIC MONSTER CLASSES EVOLVE INTO 121 TUITION

We introduce keyboards to children from the age of 3. They will be reading, writing, listening, playing and loving music! Our one-to-one instrumental lessons usually start from around age 7. Our classes will provide a direct route to this style of learning. ensuring that all of the foundations are laid for a childhood of happy and successful music-making.

6. A WIDE VARIETY OF MUSIC IS USED INCLUDING CLASSICAL, POP, NURSERY RHYMES, FOLK, SPOKEN VERSE, FILM MUSIC.

Studies have shown that language development is most pronounced in children who are exposed to lots of different rhythms and styles. We want to appeal to all audiences, and don’t want anyone to feel excluded from our classes – we want to use music that everyone will love!

7. OUR CLASSES FEATURE LIVE MUSIC.

There will be the opportunity for children to hear, sing and dance to real instruments played by their teacher every week! It is important to us that the children are inspired to learn, by experiencing live music as much as possible.

8. BONUS CLASSES TAKE PLACE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

Classes have been written to celebrate occasions such as Christmas, Halloween, Easter, and Summer! These are fun and sociable sessions, with an emphasis on capturing the party spirit.

9. MUSIC MONSTERS HAS A VERY ACTIVE ONLINE FORUM, WITH FURTHER HELP AND INSPIRATION – ALL THROWN IN FOR FREE!

10. THIS COURSE HAS BEEN WRITTEN WITH SO MUCH LOVE AND ATTENTION.

We believe that children’s lives should be filled with music, love and happiness. We are on a mission to ensure that music education is accessible to everyone, and that every child has the chance to learn. Music games and ideas can be very simple, and can be enjoyed at home – even if you have no formal music education yourself. We are not a franchise or a faceless company. We are a living, breathing family with 2 young children of our own. We love every moment of our teaching, and are sincere in our passion.
